Boy George spends first hours of jail term 'scribbling on pad'

London, Jan 19 (ANI): Fallen pop idol Boy George spent the first hours of his 15-month sentence writing notes in his cell.

The 47-year-old scribbled on a pad as he started his jail term in Pentonville Prison in North London.

George has already angered fellow inmates by lining up a soft job in the canteen.

He is set to earn 6 pounds a week as a server, dishing out meals to lags on A Wing.

"It won't go down well if he's seen to get special privileges. People have to wait weeks before they're given cushy jobs," the Sun quoted an inmate, as saying.

George revealed his jail fears to a fellow prisoner in a court holding cell before he was sent to tough Pentonville Prison.

He was held there after a judge sentenced him to 15 months for falsely imprisoning Norwegian male escort Audun Carlsen, 29, and thrashing him with a chain. (ANI)

Miscarriage drove 'depressed' Lily Allen to psychiatric clinic

Washington, Jan 19 (ANI): Lily Allen was so depressed after suffering a miscarriage that she turned to professionals at a UK facility to help her come to terms with the tragedy.

The 23-year-old fell pregnant in late 2007 with her now ex-boyfriend - Chemical Brothers DJ Ed Simmons - but lost the baby in January 2008.

Following the loss, Allen sunk into a deep depression - and turned to a psychiatric clinic, reports Contactmusic.

She says, "(I was in a) nuthouse. Psychiatric clinic. I stayed there for three weeks. I was really depressed because of the miscarriage and I'd kind of lost the plot a bit. It was quite a nasty time."

However, the crooner insists the clinic put her on the road to recovery, adding: "It was quite nice being in there. No one could get to me; no one knew I was there."

But the tragedy has not dampened Allen's spirits, for she still dreams of becoming a mother: "I want to take them to school and make breakfast and packed lunches." (ANI)

Scarlett Johansson 'becomes new face of Dolce and Gabbana'

London, Jan 19 (ANI): Scarlett Johansson is the new face of the Dolce and Gabbana Cosmetics line, according to reports.

The 'Lost in Translation' beauty went for some Marilyn Monroe-style glamour in one D andG advert, reports the Sun.

Meanwhile, Johansson recently admitted that she "fears" for her future in Hollywood.

The Vicky Cristina Barcelona star said that she often wonders how long her career in the "ageist" movie industry will last - so is preparing to become a director before movie bosses start passing her up for roles.

She told a magazine: "It's hard to be a 24-year-old actor and not be typecast. A lot of roles are either for a sexy person or a Juno-type character. That ageism makes the actress fearful for her future, making her consider another path within the industry. There is some weird ageist quality in Hollywood, perhaps that's why I lean more toward directing and development.

"That's probably the direction I'll take; I can't keep up this face forever, you know." (ANI)

Jennifer Aniston wants her own restaurant

New Delhi, Jan 19 (ANI): Jennifer Aniston has revealed that she loves the idea of running her own eatery.

What's more, the stunning actress says she would have become a restaurateur if she hadn't found success on the hit sitcom 'Friends'.

She said: "I always thought it would be fun to own a restaurant. My family is Greek, and many of them own restaurants and coffee shops, reports the China Daily.

"I make a mean baklava with my grandmother's recipe so I thought that could have worked out for me."

Jennifer, who will turn 40 in February, credits her successful career to heavy criticism she received while she was studying her craft.

She explained to Cosmopolitan magazine: "I had a Russian acting coach when I was at the New York High School of Performing Arts who told me I was a disgrace to the Moscow theatre.

"Ever since then I've wanted to prove him wrong. I've never really had my eye on the prize, though - I've just wanted to enjoy the passage of time." (ANI)

French honour for Brit folk singer Donovan

London, Jan 19 (ANI): English 1960s folk singer Donovan has received a prestigious honour for his contribution to French culture.

The hippy icon was made an Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters.

The 62-year-old rose to fame in the 1960s with hits such as "Mellow Yellow", "Sunshine Superman" and "Jennifer Juniper". Most recently he collaborated with French group Variety Lab on their up-coming single.

French culture minister Christine Albanel pinned the medal to Donovan's jacket during the ceremony in Cannes, reports the BBC.

The singer said he was "very pleased" to receive the accolade.

He said: "I take it for all the work I've done over the years to bring poetry back to popular culture.

"To get an honour like this confirmed to me that it was successful, that my work was accepted on my terms, rather than becoming an entertainer," he said.

"I wanted to be entertaining, but to bring to the world a sense of meaning again."

The award was given at the Midem music industry conference. (ANI)

Uma Thurman's in-flight workout!

New York, Jan 19 (ANI): When it comes to workout, Uma Thurman makes no compromises - the super-fit actress was recently spotted practising dance moves and yoga poses when travelling by aeroplane.

The 38-year-old 'Kill Bill' star unbuckled her seat belt and started stretching during a flight from New York to Salt Lake City, Utah.

"She started doing yoga in the aisles. She used the flight-attendant station as a ballet barre, where she stretched and did plies for 20 minutes," the New York Post quoted a witness, as saying.

However, Thurman's health consciousness seemed at odds with what she did next.

"After we left the plane, she ran for an exit and then chain-smoked like crazy," the witness added. (ANI)

Brazilian model Jesus Luz using Madonna's name to build his career

New York, Jan 19 (ANI): Queen of pop Madonna seems to have had an effect on Brazilian male model Jesus Luz's life and career, with him using his association with her to demand a bigger pay for his work.

Madge, 50, had met the 21-year-old model during her Sticky and Sweet tour in South America, and Luz has ever since used that as a climbing ladder for his career.

"All the modeling agencies came after him, but he chose Ford Models because [photographer and Madonna pal] Steven Klein had a talk with Katie Ford and convinced her that Jesus is, in fact, holy material," the New York Post quoted a source as telling Glamurama.com.br.

Not only is Luz looking for more lucrative offers he has according to his former agent Sergio Mattos, the owner of 40 Graus Models, stopped picking up calls.

"He stopped answering his phone, his mother quit her job . . . But I wish him the best. And now I have a new Jesus," Mattos, who just signed a contract with Spanish model Jesus Perez, told the Web site.

"This is a much better Jesus, and he's not a fan of Madonna's," he stated.

Ever since meeting Madge, Luz has been raising his price and overestimating his importance.

"He was asking for some 135,000 dollars a show. He did the same job last year for a mere 225 dollars," a Brazilian source said.

"A lot of people are contacting him but because he keeps raising his rates, they are changing their minds," the source added.(ANI)

Dani’s pair of strikers

FOOTIE legend Gary Lineker’s girlfriend Danielle Bux might not be a fan of the beautiful game.

But the gorgeous lingerie model knows that what a good pair of strikers up front need - top quality support. That’s why the 32DD stunner is peeling off to model La Senza’s new Double Gel Boost bra.
Danielle, 28, looks right on target in this HOT PICTURE where she shows off how well the lingerie supports her busty pair of forwards. The buxom babe, who is seen bulging out of a bright green bra, shows yet again that Gary has netted a real winner.

And although she recently said that she doesn’t like football, Danielle is proving that she is as much of a cup idol as her man.

Box Office: Weekend Predictions

HOLLYWOOD - “A real movie.” That’s the phrase that one of my industry sources used to describe Eagle Eye (Dreamworks/Paramount), which debuts this Friday at 3,500 or so locations and on more than 4,500 screens. The movie reunites Hollywood’s hottest young star, Shia LaBeouf, with his director from the surprise hit Disturbia, DJ Caruso, and industry tracking is pointing toward a spectacular opening.

It is very hard to bet against LaBeouf, whose last 2 movies, Transformers and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, have grossed a combined $635M domestic and $1.5B worldwide. Prior to those sure-fire blockbusters came Disturbia, a nifty little Hitchcockian genre pic released last spring demonstrating the 22-year-old actor’s real appeal. He’s the classic everyman and, while some compared his performance to Jimmy Stewart in Rear Window, I agree with New York Daily News critic Elizabeth Weitzman, who wrote he is, “More John Cusack than Jimmy Stewart.”

Eagle Eye turns the Disturbia premise on its ear. In this yarn, LaBeouf isn’t “the watcher,” he’s “the watched.” According to tracking data, Under 25’s are buying into the surveillance paranoia suggested in trailers and TV ads. It feels very contemporary. Your BlackBerry can kill you--or at least tell “them” where you are at every moment. Technology is ubiquitous, and there is no escape. In reality, Caruso is really mining the great Alfred Hitchcock again. Think of a modern-day North by Northwest riff with LaBeouf and Michelle Monaghan instead of Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint.

Director Caruso’s first mainstream box office success was Taking Lives, starring Angelina Jolie ($11.4M opening--$32.2M cume), but then he took a step back with the critical and commercial failure Two For the Money ($8.7M opening--$23M cume), starring Matthew McConaughey and Al Pacino. He struck paydirt with Disturbia, which opened with $22.2M then showed real playability to the tune of $80.2M domestic, and now he has LaBeouf in tow again. Eagle Eye will almost certainly be the director’s all-time biggest opening with something in the $28M range.

Females 25 Plus are showing great interest in the Warner Bros. romantic tear-jerker Nights in Rodanthe at over 2,500 locations on Friday. This is the 3rd film together for Oscar nominees Richard Gere and Diane Lane. Their first pairing was 24 years ago in Francis Ford Coppola’s troubled The Cotton Club ($2.9M opening--$25.9M cume). 18 years later, they teamed up with much better results in Adrian Lyne’s Unfaithful, which represented a breakout performance for Lane.

Not only did the actress, married in real life to actor Josh Brolin from the forthcoming W., earn her first Oscar nomination for Unfaithful (who can forget the remarkable sequence on the subway ride after her first dalliance with Olivier Martinez?), she also became the benchmark for graceful aging in Hollywood. Lane remains among the most beautiful actresses in the business and, contrary to Meg Ryan currently starring in The Women, she “appears” to have avoided the “cosmetic enhancement trap.”

Unfaithful scored $14M on opening weekend and generated a nifty $52.7M in its US theatrical run. Countless more have seen it on DVD and cable, and it is fair to say that older women are excited about seeing Lane and Gere together again. Add the fact that Nights in Rodanthe is based on a Nicholas Sparks novel, like the 2004 surprise hit The Notebook, and you have the makings of a good solid box office performance. The $10M-$13M range seems about right for Rodanthe, and I am calling for the high end of that range.

Last week’s winner Lakeview Terrace (Sony) will likely be #3 this weekend, down about 55% to $6.75M, while Spike Lee’s Miracle at St. Anna (Disney) will battle the Coen brothers’ strong-holding Burn After Reading for 4th. St. Anna is the 3rd new wide release this week, but it will open at a decidedly limited 1,100 or so locations. Lee has never been a movie hit-maker, but he had been more “commercially tone deaf” than usual for well over a decade until 2006’s Inside Man ($28.9M opening--$88.5M cume).

Spike has never been “Mr. Warmth,” but he has made some critical press blunders in advance of the release of Miracle at St. Anna. Picking a fight with industry icon Clint Eastwood is not smart. Complaining that he is a victim of “West coast bias” in Oscar voting is a mistake. Hollywood is talking about his new James McBride-penned WWII saga for all the wrong reasons. It remains to be seen just how strong the critical reaction to Miracle at St. Anna will be, but early reviews are on the negative side (33% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes as of Wednesday morning). Tracking is so-so and moviegoers have shown very little interest in war-themed films in the last couple of years, but the picture should be able to deliver $5,000-$5,500 per location for approximately $5.8M.

There are 3 more limited releases of note this week led by actor-turned-director Clark Gregg’s Choke (Fox Searchlight), based on Chuck Palahniuk’s bestselling novel. On about 400 screens, the edgy pic, starring Sam Rockwell and Academy Award winner Anjelica Huston, could grab $4,500-$5,000 per location for an opening weekend approaching $2M.

Meanwhile, The Lucky Ones (Lionsgate), a new movie from director Neil Burger (The Illusionist) opening on 400 or so screens, will play a bit softer than Choke. Iraq War veterans, played by Oscar winner Tim Robbins, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook) and Michael Pena (Crash), on a cross-country road trip dealing with a nation divided by a controversial war is a premise badly in need of excellent reviews to succeed, and the movie is running at only 36% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes as of Wednesday morning. Still, a PTA of $2,000-$2,500 is possible for a weekend gross of something shy of $1M.

Finally, Crane Movie Company is attempting to roll out a new vehicle featuring Sean Faris, the star of Never Back Down. There isn't much traction for the almost-as-generically-titled rugby movie Forever Strong, and it seems that an estimated $350,000 is in the cards.

FINAL PREDICTIONS FOR THE WEEKEND OF SEPTEMBER 26
1. NEW – Eagle Eye (Dreamworks/Paramount) – $28M

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt on the Move to Germany

HOLLYWOOD - Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have moved their family to Germany after leaving the French chateau they have called home for the last five months.

The Hollywood couple and their six children left the country on Tuesday, landing at Berlin's Tempelhof airport.

Reports state the family will be staying Germany for about 90 days in a villa south of the capital city.

Pitt is due to begin filming the new Quentin Tarantino film Inglorious Bastards there next month.

The 30,000 square-foot Palais Parkschloss on Wannsee Lake boasts a private helicopter landing pad, a dock and a full security system equipped with a staff of 14 bodyguards.

Caterina Murino

A relative newcomer in Hollywood, Caterina has taken tinsel town by storm. After all, how many women can claim to have wooed agent extraordinaire James Bond? That's exactly what she did in 2006's Casino Royale, her first big release, where she starred as Daniel Craig's love interest.
The mysterious Murino hails from the Mediterranean island of Sardinia, an Italian territory. Mama Mia!

Christina Aguilera

While Britney Spears has descended into the depths of despair and depravity, her former Mouseketeer cohort Christina Aguilera has matured into a confident, successful, beautiful young woman.
She first made a splash with 1999's Genie in a Bottle, and the blonde with the bodacious bod certainly left us mesmerised with an impressive vocal range, superb dance moves and a sparkling smile.
In recent years, while her peers get sloppily drunk for the paparazzi's amusement, Christina has found a man and got hitched. Her 2002 marriage to marketting executive Jordan Bratman has drawn much commentary, for the simple fact that the two are clearly still in love!

Carmen Electra

Carmen Electra
Some women have that elusive, classic beauty, like porcelain dolls handcrafted with care. And then there are women like Carmen Electra, so smoking hot that you can't help but stare.
Carmen, a teenaged male's fantasy in the flesh, was actually born Tara Patrick, but chose Carmen Electra as her name for the entertainment industry. With good reason, too, as she's been known to deliver quite the shock.
After starring in Playboy through the 1990s, Carmen showed off a broader palette of talents, particularly as an actress (Scary Movie, Starsky and Hutch).
She had a well publicised, story marriage with Jane's Addiction and Red Hot Chilli Peppers guitarist Dave Navarro. The four year relationship ended in 2006. Recently, Carmen's been romantically linked with rocker Joan Jett, though both parties have denied the rumours.
